Dear Parents and Guardians,
We know last year was not easy for you and your child, but we’re excited to see students back in the classroom this school year. To help maintain the health and safety of the district’s school communities and keep your child learning in-person safely, our school is offering a COVID-19 testing program for all students and faculty, free of cost. By participating in this program, we will be able to quickly limit the potential spread of COVID-19 and remain focused on our students receiving a quality education. CPS has partnered with Thermo Fisher to offer free, weekly testing to students and staff for COVID-19. The ReadyCheckGo™ COVID-19 Testing Program is an integral part of helping to keep our students and staff healthy as we continue to navigate the return to in-person learning.
Why should I opt my child in for testing? Regular on-site testing has shown to be an effective strategy to help limit the spread of COVID-19 by identifying infections early.
Who is eligible for testing? Testing is available to all students, teachers, and staff, regardless of whether they are showing symptoms or not.
How is testing done? The COVID-19 testing program is easy, quick, and safe. Trained staff will oversee the testing process with a PCR test, which includes a gentle swab of the inner nostril, done by the students themselves. This test is not painful and does not use longer swabs that reach into the nose.
How frequently will testing take place? Testing will be administered weekly and results will be available within 12 to 48 hours.
How do I know my child’s information is protected? Your child’s privacy is our top priority and this program offers a secure portal to ensure all information is protected. No other students or parents will have access to your child’s results.
