Incident on 5/21
Dear Kelvyn Park Parents and Guardians,
Safety is always my top priority, which is why I am writing to notify you of a situation that occurred during today’s school day. This morning, we received a report that shots had been fired near our school. The Chicago Police Department (CPD) responded to our school, and the CPS Office of Safety and Security was also immediately notified. CPD determined that our school did not need to go on lockdown, and all of our students and staff members are safe. We expect the rest of the school day to proceed smoothly and as scheduled. La seguridad siempre es mi primera prioridad, y es por eso que les escribo para notificarles de una situación que ocurrió durante el día de clases de hoy. Esta mañana recibimos un informe de que se habían disparado tiros en la cercanía de nuestra escuela. El Departamento de Policía de Chicago (CPD, según sus siglas en inglés) respondió a nuestra escuela, y la Oficina de Seguridad y Vigilancia también fue notificada de inmediato. El CPD determinó que nuestra escuela no necesitaba ejecutar un cierre, y que todo nuestro estudiantado y nuestro personal están seguros.
