Starting With The Why
In 1914, Ernest Shackleton explained his ‘why’ in an advertisement that read:
“Men wanted for Hazardous journey. Small wages, bitter cold, long months of complete darkness,
constant danger, safe return doubtful. Honor and recognition in case of success.”
Shackleton’s first-ever Antarctic expedition in 1914 with 27 men failed.
They were ship-wrecked for 10-months on ice until they found help using their life boats.
All 27 survived.
In his book, Start With Why, Simon Sinek explains that
This was not luck, but great team fit.
