Starting the 2nd Quarter at Home | Comenzando el segundo trimestre en casa
Dear KPH Community,
Earlier today, CPS’s Chief Executive Officer Jackson and Chief Education Officer McDade sent communication about the reopening plan for 2nd quarter. While the original letter (English letter | Letra española) is straightforward and the messaging below is not meant to replace the official CPS communication, I wanted to highlight the most significant points and relate them to our situation and students at Kelvyn Park:
- All students are starting the second quarter (begins Monday, 11/9), at home.
- Pre-K and students enrolled in moderate and intensive cluster programs will start for in-person instruction “later in the second quarter”.
- There is no official start date for “later in the second quarter” as of this writing.
- Families of students enrolled in either of these targeted programs will receive a form the district where they can indicate their intent to send their child/children to school for in-person learning.
- Staff of these programs will also receive an intent-to-return form.
- Kelvyn Park does not have a pre-K program, nor does it have a moderate or intensive cluster program.
- All Kelvyn Park students will remain in Remote Learning to start the second quarter and for the foreseeable future.
- Tentative plans for all students to return to in-person instruction have not been set.
This is a fluid situation so keep a close eye on all communication from CPS. In the meantime, we should mentally get ourselves and our children ready for a full semester of remote learning. Ensure your child is fully engaged in their remote classes by checking their schedule, reaching out to teachers to check their progress, and reporting to the school if your child’s laptop is not working properly. We can be reached from 7:30am until 3:15pm Mondays through Fridays at 773.534.4200.

- Kelvyn Park no tiene un programa de prekínder ni un programa de grupo moderado o intensivo.
- Todos los estudiantes de Kelvyn Park permanecerán en Remote Learning para comenzar el segundo trimestre y en el futuro previsible.
- No se han establecido planes tentativos para que todos los estudiantes regresen a la instrucción en persona.
