Dear Parents and Students,

As we start the school year unlike any we have had before, it’s critically important that we remain focused on preparing our students for success in life after graduation. You or your child has opted for your child to participate in a Fall College Board [PSAT/NMSQT or SAT with Essay] administration on Wednesday, 9/23. The health of our staff and students remains our highest priority, and we are writing to share the following safety procedures we will implement on test day.

Arrival

Students must arrive wearing a cloth face covering. All students and staff will be required to wear a cloth face covering while inside the school building and throughout the entirety of the test. If a student does not have a cloth face covering, we will provide them a disposable mask at school. Your child should arrive at the following assigned time and location:

Assigned Arrival Time: 7:30 – 7:50

Assigned Entrance: Main Entrance Door 8 (Kostner)

Health Screening

Prior to arriving at school on the morning of the test, parents or legal guardians will be responsible for completing the daily health screener on behalf of their child who is taking the test. The health screener can be accessed at cps.edu/healthscreener. Please indicate the location where your child will be present on that day. Once your child arrives at school, staff will confirm they have passed the screener and conduct a temperature check. If your child arrives without a completed screener, staff will submit the screener for your child. Students who do not pass the screener or have a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher will not be allowed to take the test and will return home. Please stay home if you are not feeling well or if your student fails the Daily Health Screener. Students who cannot take the test at this time will be rescheduled for the make-up testing date.

Test Materials

To minimize sharing of materials, students should bring the following materials with them on test day if possible:

  • Three #2 pencils

Our school will provide clean, disinfected pencils and calculators for students who are unable to bring their own.

Meals

Grab and go breakfast and lunch will be available to your child on test day. Upon arrival, students will be permitted to pick up breakfast to eat at their desk prior to testing. Students are permitted to remove their cloth face coverings to eat breakfast but must remain sitting in their seats six feet away from all other students. Students will also be permitted to visit the food service station to pick up a Grab ‘N Go lunch before leaving the building.

Dismissal

Students will be dismissed when the test is over. Each testing room will be assigned an exit. It is important to prevent the mixing of student groups during dismissal. Students are not permitted to gather in groups on school grounds after the test and should return home.

Health and Safety Protocols

The following health and safety protocols will be implemented at our school on test day:

  • All rooms will be disinfected, before and after testing, in line with the district’s enhanced cleaning procedures.
  • All students and staff members will be required to pass an online health screener and temperature check prior to entering the building. Parents and legal guardians will be responsible for completing the daily health screener on behalf of their child.
  • Everyone who enters a school is required to wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer.  Hand sanitizing stations are located throughout the school and in all classrooms.
  • All students and staff are required to wear a cloth face covering while inside the building, including during the test and breaks. Masks can be removed for eating and drinking, and strict social distancing (minimum of six feet) is required when masks are removed.
  • Students must be seated six feet apart with no more than 25 percent of the room’s capacity being utilized and no more than 50 people per room.
  • During testing breaks, students must remain in their testing room and maintain strict social distancing.
  • Students and staff must follow the above health requirements during restroom breaks, including  social distancing, wearing cloth face coverings, and cleaning their hands.
  • If a student begins to feel sick during the test, they must tell a staff member and leave the room as soon as possible. They will be sent to the Care Room until they are able to go home.

We are committed to creating the safest possible environment for your child to take this test. Please feel free to reach out to Ms. Jonnetter Lofton, [email protected] with any questions.

Thank you,

Dr. Keith W. Adams, Interim Principal

Estimados padres y estudiantes:

Entrada asignada: Main Entrance Door 8 (Kostner)

Gracias,

Dr. Keith W. Adams, Director Interino
